Rebel In The Ranks ~ 2 Acts ~ Cast: 7 (1F, 6M)

Synopsis

In the current scandal ridden Catholic Church, Fr. James Cummings and Fr. Paul Grady attempt to form an independent association of other priests within their diocese.  The initial response by their fellow priests to such an association is tremendous.

Bishop Lawrence Keane, their bishop, hears of this association which could potentially pose a threat to his absolute authority – as well as spread to other dioceses worldwide.  He realizes that this would greatly jeopardize his promotion to cardinal.

Keane takes action.  He dangles clerical promotions in front of Grady and Cummings to drop the priests association organizing idea.  Grady jumps at the opportunity.  Cummings does not.

An allegation, orchestrated by Grady, is made against Cummings who is relieved of his priestly duties in Keane’s diocese.

Once Fr. Frank Gallo, the pastor of Sacred Heart parish where Cummings served, learned of the scheme to get rid of Cummings, he decides to take action.  Gallo, along with Mitsy Hebert (the rectory’s housekeeper), execute a plan to restore Cummings to active duty within the diocese and at the same time to topple Keane and his corrupt clerical system.
