Type 2 Diabetics: Control your diabetes before it controls you.
“One of the best stories I have ever read dealing with surviving and bouncing back from the brink as a result of having diabetes related life-threatening complications.”

There are over 370 million people in the world who are diabetic (over 700 million are prediabetic). More than half do not realize they have diabetes. Every 6 seconds somewhere a diabetic dies falling victim to a diabetes-related complication. My diabetic journey began over thirty years ago when I was diagnosed as having Type 2 (adult onset) diabetes. I was not just a diabetic, I was an out of control, raging diabetic. As a result of initially not tightly controlling this disease, I have suffered diabetes related complications: vision loss, heart disease and heart attacks, kidney failure and blood circulation challenges.
“You’re going to be blind in 6 months.”
At one point, I was at the brink of going blind. One ophthalmologist went as far as telling me that I should get my life in order as I was going to be blind in 6 months. In the book I relate what I did so this would not happen to me. Thirteen and a half years later, although visually impaired I continue to have my vision.
Diabetes-related high blood pressure caused my heart disease (and three heart attacks!) leading to my having to undergo emergency bypass surgery.
My kidney transplant occurred a few weeks before I was scheduled to start dialysis.
Over 118,000 people are currently on the national waiting list to receive a transplanted kidney due to their failing kidneys. The vast majority find themselves in End Stage Renal (Kidney) Disease as a result of their diabetes. I discuss my own kidney failure and subsequent kidney transplant a few weeks before I was scheduled to go on dialysis.
Hopefully “Diabetes Can Kill You” will help you or the ones you love, avoid the ravishment of diabetes.
